We use a variety of fabrics for upholstery – natural linens, velvets, printed cotton and/or silk dhurry rugs, woven rugs, embroidered fabrics and vintage fabrics.
As many are produced by hand, there may be small imperfections in some fabrics, such as smudging or printing irregularities on block printed fabrics. Our vintage fabrics often contain small patches and mark.
No fabric is 100% colour fast, not even those tested to industry standards. It is important to take adequate precautions in your home such as keeping all upholstered pieces out of direct sunlight. Even low winter sun can cause significant fading.
Our textiles will sustain normal wear and tear. If they get marked, spot clean them with a damp cloth as quickly as you can. Please note that none of our textiles are recommended for commercial use.
For a full clean, we recommend professional cleaning by a certified company that can come to your home. Or, if your furniture has removable covers you can take them along to your local dry cleaners.
Don’t forget to give cushions a good shake every week or so to help them keep their shape. Reversible cushions should be rotated regularly.
Velvet requires a little extra care, because of its pile, as it is prone to crushing. The best way to rectify this is by steaming or brushing with a clothes brush.
